MSME registration (Udyam Registration) gives micro, small, and medium businesses official recognition to access government benefits such as subsidies, priority lending, tax relief, credit guarantees, protection against delayed payments, and preference in public procurement. Registration is completed on the Udyam portal through a simple, paperless process and is essential for unlocking MSME-specific schemes that support growth and competitiveness.
Previously known as SSI Registration or Udyog Aadhaar, the process is now fully online and free to complete. After successful submission, a digital MSME (Udyam) Certificate is issued, which includes a QR code and can be used to seamlessly access schemes, apply for tenders, and validate MSME status with banks and authorities.
Effective April 1, 2025, revised thresholds for MSME classification allow higher investment and turnover limits, enabling enterprises to scale machinery and revenue without losing MSME status. This update is designed to promote expansion, formalization, and easier access to finance while preserving eligibility for MSME benefits.
